Ingrown nails

An ingrown toenail manifests itself as pain, which initially only occurs when the nail is pressed. The next stage is associated with significant pain.

Over time, the pain persists even when the patient isn't wearing closed shoes. The skin around the nail becomes red and swollen, and pus may begin to collect under the nail. This usually indicates a serious infection, so it's essential to seek professional help from a podiatrist as soon as possible.

What causes ingrown toenails to appear?

Among the factors that can increase the risk of this problem, the most important are improperly trimmed nails. Trimming them into a semicircular shape or cutting them too close to the skin can increase the risk of ingrown toenails. The second most common cause is ill-fitting footwear. Regularly wearing not only shoes that are too small but also high heels can contribute to ingrown toenails.

Ingrown toenails can also be caused by genetic factors. Some people are prone to this condition, as are their parents or grandparents.

How to treat ingrown toenails?

To effectively get rid of the problem, it is important to take two steps, including regular visits to a podiatry office and the use of appropriate preparations during home care.

First on our list is Podopharm Podoflex fluid for ingrown toenails, which helps combat this problem. It has refreshing, disinfecting, softening, soothing, and anti-irritant properties, as well as protecting against fungal infections. The product's effectiveness stems from the ingredients it contains, including tea tree oil, clove oil, soybean oil, lavender oil, and peppermint. The fluid is also safe for diabetics. To achieve satisfactory results, use it according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Another product worth attention is Unguisan softening tincture for calluses, corns and ingrown toenails, which effectively softens thick and calloused nails, making it much easier to eliminate the problem of ingrown toenails. It has a soothing effect, relieving the pain and pressure caused by ingrown toenails.

The product can also be used by diabetics. It contains urea, salicylic acid, marigold extract, allantoin, and lactic acid. According to the manufacturer, Unguisan Softening Tincture for calluses, corns, and ingrown toenails should be applied once or twice daily.

Third place is occupied by Prontoman gel for anti-infection prophylaxis, which not only disinfects wounds but also protects against fungi and germs. This product is particularly recommended for tamponade applications in the nail fold. It can be combined with most nail clips. The product is well tolerated by allergy sufferers and diabetics.

It also deserves attention Remmeles propolis extract with dropper, which is a preparation with many properties. It has softening and antiseptic properties, and supports wound healing. Remember that the product contains propolis, an ingredient that may cause allergic reactions. Therefore, before first use, make sure the extract does not cause an allergic reaction. The preparation effectively seals and disinfects wounds and also works well as a dressing impregnation. It can be used, for example, as a disinfectant when applying tamponade to the nail fold. Remmeles propolis extract with a dropper works well not only for ingrown toenails but also for the treatment of corns, cracked heels, and even viral warts.
